PLEDGE: Beltchecker.com will forever be advertisement free

I had this idea from the beginning, but I wasn't sure if I could ultimately commit to it, especially not when I saw the traffic and interest starting to come in and realize that this will cost some $$$ every month in server cost. But I'm committed to it right now: Beltchecker.com will forever be free of advertisement. If you want to support the site, you can instead get our ID card or - in the very near future - one of our certificates. I'll keep cost of these things as low as possible while still making a profit that will hopefully cover costs of running and developing the site (should I need outside programming help for some of the work, at some point) Thanks again for your support! ![]() |
"Have you thought about creating a Patreon account to support the page? This is an organic way to allow users to “subscribe” to support the site." I'm not a fan of donation/gofundme/tipping culture. If people want to support, they can get an ID card or even just spend $2 on the name verification. If they want to give even more, buy a BJJ Globetrotters gi or come join a camp :) |
call me weird, but im actually not so against advertisements.. as long as their like properly done. straight google adsense is dumb, but like if you had like people who wanted to promote an upcoming tournament their holding, or GI's, like say budo videos needed some more business somehow, they could advertise.. a bit like the promos on youtube lol.. the cards are great, but if your not like purple or above, theres almost no reason to get it besides to support the project. and trust me i do wanna support the project but still. so if something like that got set up, id be totally all about it. theres a nice blank space on the left of the forum beneath the search tool that i think could work well for that. but obviously, i also support however you guys think is best. if this thing succeeds, its our success too. and who am i to know what would actually be best for this thing. you guys do you :) |
It's not you, it's me. I hate ads :D Even just taking part in the project and investing some effort into building a proper profile, inviting friends along, that's a big support to help this site work. If you really, really insist on sending money, then buy something on http://www.bjjglobetrotters.com instead, ends up in the same pocket :) Thanks for the support! |

Going to buy something right now actually lol |

Since the day i discovered Globetrotters in 2015, you have impressed me so much with your die-hard approach to doing things the way YOU want to do them. I think you could have made buckets of money with a different approach to monetization, but no way would it have created the massive and amazing organization you have today. And you probably would have hated the journey. One of the things that have made your camps so awesome is that it dosent feel like a shopping spree. No pressure to buy energy drinks or gear. |

My God, if you knew how many energy drink, antibacterial soap, gi and CBD companies who wanted to set up shop at the camps I've said no to over the years :D (Edited 6 year(s) ago) |
"I would be willing to pay a small subscription. I feel to keep this thing going and growing you will need funding eventually. -upgrading servers -Managing the site -app development All of this costs time and money" Thanks but it’s not happening :D If you insist, you can make your own subscription by re-verifying your name as many times / as often as you feel, it’s $2 every time :) |
What about affiliate links? It's not really advertisment and could bring in some bucks... we all need to buy stuff that Globetrotters don't offer, maybe partnering up with some brand could help, and all you need to "advertise" would be a pinned forum post with the partners and links there. I got my Globetrotters gi, I am joining a camp soon... but I cannot buy a gi or travel every month (I wish), but I could still support in other (cheaper :D) ways. |

Nope, not interested in that either :) |
