I know I was initially against it, but I changed my mind and we decided we will be offering Beltchecker in multiple languages. If we are to grow into a true, world wide BJJ practitioner database, I realize this is more important than my OCD's desire for everything to look the same. We will make separate forums for each language.

If you want to help with the translation, reply here with your email address and native language. We will then send you an invite to the translation interface where multiple people can work on the same language simultaneously.

The more the better!

Would you actually want as many languages as possible? I mean how many additional people would Danish / Icelandic / Estonian bring in?

I can see the point for French, Portuguese, maybe Russian and Chinese and Japanese first?

I think it’s a good idea to offer the opportunity for people who are not comfortable in English to have Beltchecker.com in other languages.
I’m on my way to help for the French translations. Hope there will be other contributors for this language !

Yeah well pretty much whatever people wanna help translate, we’ll take it. I agree Danish, Estonian etc is not really as relevant as, let’s imagine, Italian :D

It may be a challenge moderating the "be nice" rule in this myriad of new languages. Someone should definitely study up on their Italian insults at the very least...;)

How would we get access to the language forums, once they're up and running? I'd love the chance to practice my German and Spanish. :)

I've sent mail to beltchecker@beltchecker.com for Dutch

1312 to be precise! So it will make a huge difference if we have a handful of translators for each language :)

Japanese.
gfabrot@gmail.com

Not technically my native language, but I've been here 23 years and read/write/speak fluently, and it might be difficult to get a Japanese native to bootstrap as they don't seem very numerous on this forum yet ^^

I saw two :
@Keisuke Mafune
@Yuji Goto

Step 1 : Translate to Japanese
Step 2 : Start onboarding more Japanese gyms

1312 strings... that's quite a few

Yeah we take it in small bites and try to get a handful of people on each language. I’m doing Danish alone and just spend five minutes a day on it, then eventually I’ll get through it. At around 30% now :)

When will you share the strings? I don't mind following the same approach for Dutch. I can split the list with Jan Hochepied.
I will do the first 656 items and he can start with the second half. Then we can check each others work afterwards.

For everyone translating, please note this absolute stupidity in the interface!! For those translations with two lines like this, you have to translate the little, lower one. Looks like every single one of us misunderstood that :D

It's going well, but it takes time. When is it supposed to be finished? Otherwise sometimes the context of the sentence is missing (or it's in parts of the site where I don't go).
