On vacation for 6 weeks. Requesting links for sanity

Making a personal request to the community: I am on a family road trip for the next 6 weeks and I cant train at all. To prevent me from pulling guard on my teenagers poolside and getting kicked out of the rec area, would you guys mind popping a quick link to your favorite instructional clip here? I'm going to go crazy without jiu jitsu. If I cant keep my body training I'd like to keep sharpening my mind. |
Henry Akins is a font of knowledge and is a great resource. I've done a ton of seminars with him. https://www.youtube.com/w[...]p;index=14 |
"https://youtu.be/lPpoREdw[...]ure=shared" Thank you so much Mark! This was wonderful. I may rewatch this every month for a good refresher. |
This is an excellent time, for walking practice, posture practice, turning practice, tension and compression practice, falling practice, and thinking practice, along with visualization practice. Also, shadow boxing, and shadow ukemi, slide knees, and the singing of songs, the reciting of poetry, and paying attention to the locals, good eats, and the local flora and fauna. |

I may pay too much attention to the local good eats. Hopefully my walking practice of the day burned off the excessive calories. The singing of songs will not be neglected, much to my wife's dismay |
One of the biggest challenges for me in jiu jitsu has always been practicing patience. Not forcing things into the place i think they should be, but setting traps and funneling action to where I want to to go. the wrestler in me wants to use brute force, pain compliance, and outright fear to control action and pace. I find that going on an RV vacation with 5 kids is presenting me with the same challenges lol. Maybe I'm the problem? To quote Principal Skinner, "No. Its the children that are wrong". |
I really enjoyed Dean Lister's instructional on leg locks. As a brown belt I'm sure you know a lot of the material already, but I found some things to be pretty interesting (like the knee crush we saw make a bit of a comeback at CJI last year), plus it's a great way to kill 2 hours on that vacation, haha! https://www.youtube.com/w[...]aXN0ZXI%3D |

Lets not assume I know anything just because I'm a brown belt. It just means I'm too stubborn to quit lol. But I appreciate the belief in me! |
