After berimbolo, 50/50, worm guard, what might be the next big thing dominating in competition scene or would the old school prove it self again?

I believe answer for all these new guards will be some sort of passing from knees type of game. Hiding your legs and stay low. Or something I didnt even know existing yet.

The Dim Mak Death Touch is about to make a comeback.. You heard it here first. :-)

Seriously though, probably something from Kosen Judo that was forgotten will be reintroduced with a catchy name.

Does they have some forgotten signature moves or you mean like more generally? I assume ctach wrestling has also some interesting leg bindings that could become a part of some kind of passing game. Like Leo Vieiras early legdrag modifications.

No I just meant that every few years someone claims they came up with a new technique and we all jump on it only to find out it is actually an old school technique that was forgotten as people learned to defend it.

Atos / Galvao has been at it for years. It's also vs leglock meta.

I would want to say BJJ as a sport is getting "complete" in the sense that yes there is stuff for individuality and details and meta changes but no major additions anymore... However I do must say I was saying the same thing 10 years ago and I have seen the short DLR (berimbolo), 50/50 and worm arrive so... :D

P.S. The thread is kinda the same as the "BJJ meta" thread I created a while ago. Admin merge early?

Other than the not-so-appropriate recent Atos / Galvao-moves, what WAS the next big things of the last 5 years and what do you all figure it will be within the next 5 or 10 years?

Last 5 years:
Politicians.
War.
Disease.
Supply Chain perils, and Famine.
Politicians.
The AI retelling has proven that people will burn down forests, for fart jokes, porn, and for the same old false promise of all recess, all day, no homework, and pizza every lunch.
Hope.

Next Ten Years:
The AI Bust.
The Crypto catastrophe.
Joseph Schumpeter, and Kuhn, proved right again.
Energy weapons....
I hope, more widespread nuclear power.
Better battery technology.
More efficient, and better cost to supply chain renewable energy.
Water technologies, as water poverty is terrible.
More redundancies, and decentralization, I hope, on energy, food production, and other vitals.
Hope.
