Lineage: 2nd Degree Black Belt under Rodney King (4th Degree Black Belt) under Master Rigan Machado

My Martial Arts journey started from a very young age when I took Karate lessons around the age of 9 or 10. Didn't stick it through but always had an attraction to Martial Arts, watched a lot of Ninja and Kung Fu movies during the 80's and Chuck Norris, Steven Seagal and Jean Claude Van Damme in the 90's. Only really stared getting serious when I was doing my military service in 1991/92. Met Rodney King then and we trained a few times during that year. When I left the military I actively pursued training and started with Kuk Sool Won in 1992. I trained for a year and switched to Songham Taekwondo as the studio was closer to my house in 1993. I attained my Black Belt on the 5th of August in 1995. I took over my academy on the 1st of January 1996 as a fresh Black Belt still wet behind the ears. I then continued to train Taekwondo until 2000 when I officially switched over to Coaching only MMA and BJJ. In that time I got promoted to the rank of 3rd Degree Black in Songham Taekwondo (American Taekwondo Association) and WTF (World Taekwondo Federation) I trained a bit of Aikido, Ninjitsu, Kenpo and a few styles of Kung Fu. But wasn't really happy at any of the places and quickly moved on. However when I started training BJJ and MMA in August of 1999 under Rodney King, I immediately fell in love. Come 1st of January 2000 I switched from a Taekwondo school to a BJJ Academy and a MMA/Functional Boxing school and I have never looked back. I also got my certification in Savate and also became a coach in Kalah. I run a very successful academy close to Johannesburg in South Africa where I caoch BJJ as a full time job. I coach about 50 classes per week on average and I love every minute of it. I have been blessed and trained with Master Rigan Machado, Rodney King, Cleudon De Sousa Alves Jr., Vince Choo, Eric Kolesar, Chris Haueter, Matt Thornton, Forrest Griffin and Rory Singer to name a few. I love sharing my passion for Jiu-Jitsu and I want my students to gain success in life through the art and Brotherhood of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
