I see myself as a man who finally stepped away from the screen to honor a promise made in childhood. Although my daily work keeps me behind a desk, I chose Jiu Jitsu as a vital counterbalance to stabilize my mood, manage my weight, and build the discipline required to remain healthy and present for my family.Jiu-Jitsu has become my primary tool for mood regulation. Each session naturally stimulates testosterone, dopamine, and serotonin, offering a sustainable and honest sense of fulfillment. This physiological reset keeps my mind grounded and disciplined. I do not train with the expectation of ever needing Jiu Jitsu for physical self defense. Instead, it has provided a subtler, more profound form of armor. By driving out fear, it has given me the courage to stand firm in everyday moments whether that means calmly addressing someone smoking near an asthmatic patient or having the presence of mind to offer comfort and a hug to someone I once would have been too afraid to approach. I’ve come to understand that genuine kindness is impossible when fear is in control; you cannot truly show compassion to someone you are afraid of. Jiu-Jitsu has given me the inner stillness to lead with composure rather than intimidation. It is not about seeking conflict; it is about character, consistency, and finally keeping faith with the boy who once wanted to be a warrior.

Gassing out during rolls was leading to me losing or being forced to surrender, so I added Tae Bo for stamina. This only brought an old injury to the surface. While I was initially upset, I now see the issue was always there, hidden under the carpet. The journey to blue belt isn't a straight line; it requires removing the 'elephant in the room' first. Dealing with this is an essential first step;I must remove the tares before the harvest to avoid the energy leaks that lead to bein 1 month(s) ago |
