"If we expand to our luta livre cousins, recently there's been an interesting case in Germany where somebody got awarded a black belt in 'grappling' by somebody who has no black belt in any grappling art, and this guy immediately started to award luta livre belts :D"
Oh, Sven mentioned this.
There is an equal amount of fuckery going on in LL.

Yes he was the first one calling it out on social media. I wonder if there's been any consequence (as in, the guy stopped awarding LL belt or stuff like that).

In judo (at least judo in the U.K.) , we have a record book.

When you join an association , part of the joining and renewal fee is the record book.

It’s old school but it works. There are sections in it to be signed off and with a date/time and club stamp for all gradings, competitions, coaching courses, refereeing courses etc etc.

This completely negates the need for trying to get verification via social media pics and people making phone calls or sending messages.

If it is from a different association be it U.K. (BJA/BJC/AJA) or other international IJF recognised body then a note can be entered by the instructor or examiner to say for example “from grade <state source>” .

The instructor will then inform the association who will hold an electronic record of the grade or book entry. If the book is lost then all the previous entries can be entered on the new book by the association .

Where did Georges Meulenyser go? Guess he quit Beltchecker.

Interesting scenario, but I'd say faking all the colored belts would invalidate your BB, as you'd need 4½ years from blue belt, which you don't if you never got a legit blue belt (or purple or brown). Really a responsibility of promoting instructors to check up on someone's claimed prior belts, if they are to promote someone to BB within 4½ years from becoming their instructor.

Did Jardin take any action? Normally, I don't think ranks can be redacted, but if they build on lies (especially from the one being promoted), I have no problem with ranks being expunged.

He deleted his profile.
He withdrew his consent for his rank to be further discussed.
He is not here, and therefore, is expected not to defend himself.

This is not Gentlemanly, nor civil, this is just idle Gossip.
If you have a problem with him, for further comments,
Unless he reappears to defend himself,
Is this really the right platform for whatever this or that post is or was?

As this platform, is the marvel of the world, for being something different.
Being Civil, and I think, perhaps, showing the rest of the Jiu-Jitsu community a competing model to other models, they practice poorly enough, off this site.
If he remakes his profile, and consents, to further discussion, or a roll, or a fight, fair game.

If not....?
